Lady Gaga vs. Target

Maybe you are a Lady Gaga fan, or maybe you are not. But you have to admit that she is really out there. It seems that she had a recent deal with Target to sell her new album with special remixes. Now it seems that the deal is off. Lady G claims that Target is donating money to funds that have supported anti-gay politicians. Thus, she is ending the deal with Target.

Is Lady Gaga over reacting, or is she perfectly within her rights to end the deal? What about Target? Did they get fair treatment from this news story?

In my opinion Lady Gaga is over-reacting, but I think it is within her rights to end the deal with Target. Target does, however, have the right to support any politician they choose, even the anti-gay politicians. I'm pretty sure that if Lady Gaga would have looked at all charities, organizations, politicians, etc. that Target has supported in the past, she would have found someone or some organization that is not "anti-gay." Perhaps Target supported the anti-gay politicians for a reason other than the fact that they are anti-gay. There are other issues in politics besides sexual preference.

I know that Lady Gaga has been a strong supporter of removing the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy and she's talking more and more about it in the media recently. Because of this, it's understandable that she would want to end this deal with Target. If she did sign this deal, Lady Gaga's fans might become upset with her for signing with anti-gay supporters and call her a hypocrite. I think it's a smart career move for her.

Ernie says..Lady Gaga is over reacting to this stuff. She is a good singer, i dont see why this means so much to her. Maybe she just has a attitude problem or something. This is America, a lot of poeple are anti-gay these days.

Madi says...I think Lady Gaga has the right to over react, she is making all the money so that being said she should have the right to end the deal if she wants. I think that Lady Gaga should have talked about it before ending the deal because I love Target and want them to earn money too.

Matt: It is clear that what she is doing is just trying to rekindle the popularity that she once held; for her fan base has dropped down a great amount since the ending of last year. This is simply her reaching out to try and get as much news attention as possible and they are all falling for it.

Robbie says!.. By all means, well not trying to be mean, but Lady Gaga is weird. I mean she has some good songs but to me shes probly just trying to get attention just like that funny lookin hat she was wearing in the video. Plus that weird lookin dress that was just dumb but thats my opinion

I think that this is very obviously a publicity stunt. Lady Gaga's popularity has been waning this last year, and she needs to generate attention to herself. Although she has done great things for gay rights, i do think that her time of relevance is over. In one more year, Lady Gaga will have faded into obscurity just like Hanson and N-Sync.

Tee- I believe Lady Gaga to be a very talented woman, but her viewpoints can be pretty irritating sometimes. She was in her rights to cut the deal with Target, but she honestly just needs to quit whining about stuff that doesn't really matter. I have a feeling she's doing all this just in order to get more attention thrust her way, just as she does with her "outrageous" clothing.

Lauren...I do believe that Lady Gaga is over-reacting on this situation. Target has the right to support whatever groups that they wish to. However, she also has a reason to be upset. The deal was made but Target chose to change the circumstances. I am still on Target's side when it comes to Lady Gaga over-reacting. Target is an established corporation that can donate money anytime that they wish.

Kristin says... Everyone has the right to their own opinion. Target has the right to support whoever they want. If Lady GaGa doesn't like that then she has the right to end the deal. Most people don't associate themselves with something they don't agree with. Both parties recieved fair treatment from the news story.

LaKendra... I understand why Lady Gaga would want to remove the deal with Target. She is very open about being a strong supporter of the gay community so I can see why she should want to end the deal. A lot of her fans like that she is a supporter of this and might would have been upset to know that she made a deal with a company that goes against it.

I am not Lady G fan, but she does come up with some crazy things. I think target was treated unfairly. Just because they donated to anti gay contributions should not mean anything to her. She is also hurting her fans but not selling album now.

Ashley says... Lady Gaga is kinda over reacting. I mean if your a star in Hollywood, you have to be able to put up with stuff like this. Not everyone in the world is going to like her, so she needs to know that people will say stuff. Her life is her life. She can do whatever she wants or be whatever she wants. She has rights to end the deal. I mean if she don't like something she can do something about it. It's her choice. Target has rights to too. They can do pretty much anything within rights but mabe they should have talked it through before they did that. Lady Gaga is going to have lots of stuff happen to her since she's telling the truth now! She should see it coming in Hollywood!

Chris says…. I’m really not a Lady Gaga fan but I like some of her songs. They really play them a lot on the radio so they really get kind of annoying. But I do have to agree she really is out there with all the funky dresses she wears and the weird music videos she does. To be honest I don’t really care about the feud with Lady Gaga and Target, if she doesn’t like them she shouldn’t let them sell her music.

I'm really not a Lady Gaga fan. I'm not going to judge her on what she is doing. I don't support nothing that's dealing with "GAY" but thats my opinion. If she wants to end the deal with Target then that's her problem.

Im not a fan of her. I never even seen her before.I really think she is over reacting. She shouldn't feel a certain way just because someone is gay.Maybe the gay people whould be the main people who buy it. I think she is wrong for ending the deal with Target.

She definitely is over reacting. I think she should have just not bothered it. And she shouldn't have ended the deal just because target supported anti-gay politicians.

Blah blah blah... are we really talking about this? Why does it matter? Is it really going to affect your life any if you have to go somewhere else to buy music? Besides, don't most people download music illegally anyway? Never the less, it kills me inside to know this is what we are focusing on, but honestly, I give up caring.

Lady Gaga is justified in doing what she did. Target was however, also justified in doing what they did. Target chose to support the anti-gay politician; Lady Gaga chose to pull the album in support of gays. I am not a member of the Target corporation or associated with Lady Gaga in anyway thus I am not really affected by this circumstance. I honestly could not care less; sounds rude but I’m being honest.

I wouldnt't say that she over reacting because thats how she feel about things. I don't think that that was a good reason to end the deal. If you want money it shouldn't matter how or what the person is like. Target should be able to support anything and anybody with out having to lose a deal or production. I don't really think they got fari treatment.

I do not feel that she is not over reacting. However, i dont think that she should have canceled the deal. Her fans are the important ones, who cares what the Target the company thinks. People are people why dose it matter if you gay or straight. No one can chang who you are so you shouldn't let someones thoughts get in the way.

I think that Lady Gaga is over reacting, she makes millions why does she have to make a big deal about this. Target can choose who to support in politics, it's not all about the gay people. I don't thik it was right for her to end the deal, alot of people were counting on that cd. I think that Target didn't get fair treatment, they didn't have to agree to sell her things, she was wrong for doing that.
