A Day Off

This is the 25th anniversary of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." One of the funniest movies of all time, it is worth checking out all these years later. It had an all-star cast, including Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Jennifer Grey, Charlie (yes, that guy) and my favorite, Ben Stein as the economics teacher. The most well known scene is the parade scene. After watching, what did you think? Have you seen this movie before? What did you think of it? If this is not the funniest movie of all time, what do you think is?

On a more serious note, thank you for all your hard work this semester. I have enjoyed working with you in CIS and other classes. I hope you have a safe, relaxing and fun summer. Good luck on exams next week.

Here's to the Heroes

It is probably tough being a soldier stationed in a war zone like Iraq or Afghanistan for a year or more. And we know how crazy airplane tickets and fees can be. Now imagine coming home after a long deployments and then being charged a fee to have your bags transported home on Delta or another air carrier! Would it make you angry. Well apparently it did to some soldiers. Their solution, post a video on video complaining about thousands in fees being charged them. Think it got a message across? Watch this. Do you agree with the soldiers or Delta? Would you have done the same as the soldiers? Why or why not.

Failing……Tragically!

We’ve all had our times when we have failed at some point. Have you ever failed that badly? If so, explain your tragic failure. If not, explain a time where you witnessed someone fail. Which clip did you think was the funniest? Why? If you were to make your own fail video montage, what type of clips would you include? Why?

SGA Elections

SGA elections are Thursday. Instead of an assembly, where the candidates present their speeches, those speeches have been recorded and uploaded to YouTube. Undoubtedly, you will be seeing this video many times over the next several days. What do you think of it? Compared to an assembly, is this a better way of presenting the candidates? When will viewing it get old and boring? Do you have a particular favorite candidate? Teachers can not vote. However, I think that they are all good candidates and will do a great job with SGA!

Super Hero

Some of you may have heard of the recent heroics of Eddie Peoples, who recently foiled a bank robbery. Eddie is also a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and has served several tours in war zones overseas. Watch this story of his heroics. Do you think he is a hero? Would you have done the same things he did, including chasing the bank robber? Or would you have done something else?

New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys performed together on the Today Show's concert series this morning. New Kids on the Block was popular when I was in elementary school! Do y'all even know who they are? What about the Backstreet Boys? What do you think of "boy bands"...should they make a come-back or do you think the music industry is better off without them? Why?
