Happy LATE Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Dr. Seuss turn 107 yesterday! In honor of Dr. Seuss, I chose the official trailer to one of my favorite movies I watch with my son, Horton Hears a Who, as today's blog video.

Horton Hears A Who! - Trailer

Are you a Dr. Seuss fan? What is your favorite Dr. Seuss book you remember reading as a child? Do you have a favorite Dr. Seuss character? Is there another Dr. Seuss book you think should be turned into a major motion picture?

Downing says . . . I think that everyone knows how much I like Dr. Seuss. I have probably read all of his books and have used them in some of my classes. However, I was very disappointed in the movie versions of "The Cat in the Hat" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Give me the original cartoon version. Please don't butcher any more of his books by turning them into movies. My favorite characters are Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Lauren Says...As a child my favorite Dr. Seuss book was "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." I was fairly disappointed with the outcome of the movies that were produced. However, my favorite characters that Dr. Seuss created were Thing 1 and Thing 2. I do not believe that any other movies of his books should be made. "Horton Hears A Who" was a great movie but the others were not.

I’m not really a big Dr. Seuss have. As a child my remember reading the cat in the hat, it was one of my favorites. My favorite characters would be Thing 1 and Thing 2 as I saw in the cat in the hat movie. I think they should make more movies from Dr. Seuss.

As a child, I don't remember reading many of Dr. Seuss's books but my favorite one was "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish." I've seen the movie "Horton Hears A Who" and Horton is my favorite character. The movie versions of his books are kind of creepy in my opinion so I don't think they should make any more.

Thomas Farrar: I think that "The Lorax" is the best Dr. Seuss novel. Unlike many of his other works, such as "The Cat in the Hat", it actually has an over-arching message, that of environmentalism. However, i don't think that it should be made into a movie, because other than "The Grinch", Dr. Seuss books have not gracefully made the transition into film.

Ernie says... my favorite book was Cat In The Hat. I personally dont believe that they should make his books into movies. That would defeat the whole purpose of getting kids to read books.

Sheron says…I think Green Eggs and Ham should be made into a movie. It could be a good comedy and can also be one that teaches life lessons.

Matt: I'm actually a fan of "The Lorax", it is Dr. Seuss' only work that has any REAL undertones that hold any life experiences. It also holds the sense of Dr. Seuss that his other works include, like "Cat in the Hat" with its mess of jumbled words and phrases. All in all, he is truly one of the greatest writers of child books to ever live, and I feel that his influence will stretch on for many decades to come.

Tee- I actually am a very big fan of Dr. Seuss. As a lover of Christmas, my favorite Dr. Seuss story has always been "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", with the Grinch also being my favorite one of his characters. Jim Carrey's performance as the Grinch was also amazing, in my opinion. I don't know which of his books will be a motion picture next, but I'm excited to see it regardless.

Chris says…I’m really not a Dr. Seuss fan but I do remember reading the books when I was young. The book that I liked the most by Dr. Seuss was the book Go Dog Go I could read it over and over and I probably would read it now. If anything they should make a movie about the Cat in the Hat cause it’s still popular.

Cadeja Wilson: Yes, I am a Dr. Seuss fan. I have enjoyed most of his books that I have read so far. My favorite Dr. Seuss character would definitely have to be the Grinch. I think that another Dr. Seuss book that should be turned into a motion picture would have to be Green Eggs and Ham. I don’t know why but I just think that it would be pretty interesting to watch and not just read.

Ashley says... I like Dr Seuss. I think he's a great author. I like the book The Cat and the Hat. I love the movie The Cat and the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas! I watch it every Christmas. At school when I was younger they use to make us green eggs. In The Cat and the Hat, I like the characters Thing 1 and Thing 2. I thought they were very funny. The movie Horton hears a who is a good movie for little kids and it's very funny. I had to watch it with my little cousins and it wasn't so bad! Their have already been a lot of movies made out of his books and probably more to come. Their all good!

Well when I was younger I was never very fond of Dr. Seuss. However I liked the movie's made from his books. I would definately have to say that my favorite character would be the Grinch played by Jim Carey. I think that they're running out of his books to turn into movies...most of them are too short to be made up into movies.

I am indeed a fan of Dr. Seuss. He seems like a crazy person and that's my favorite thing about him. I only read one of his books, Green Eggs and Ham, so I can't really have a favorite. My favorite character would definitely have to be the fish in the Cat and the Hat. Every Dr. Seuss book should become a movie!

No,I am not a Dr. Seuss fan. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish." I do not have a favorite Dr. Suess character. I would not say that there should be another book that should be turned into a major motion picture. I don't watch his movies.

I love Dr. Seuss. My absolute favorite book is Oh the Places You’ll Go, it is very inspirational. I think that that book should be made into a movie. I don’t have a favorite character of his. Jim Carrey though, did the best representation of a Dr. Seuss character.
