What's for Dinner?

In Kenya, the Dorobo tribe gets a lot of their food by "stealing" the freshly killed animal from the lions that killed it. Check out this video from the "Human Planet." Do you find yourself cheering for the tribesmen as they approach the lions or pulling for the lions? After all, the lions did the killing. Do you feel sorry for the animal that was killed? Who do you think would have a harder time adjusting to another culture? Would it be us adjusting to the Dorobo tribe culture, or the Dorobo tribe adjusting to our American culture?

Tee: I was pulling for the tribesmen; lions scare me. They're almost as bad as BEARS. But nothing compares to them. I would have a terribly hard time adjusting to another culture, and I think the neither us or them will have to adjust anytime soon.

Kristin says... I felt myself worrying about the three men approaching a bunch of lions. I don't feel sorry for the animal that was killed, that's life. I think it would be hard adjusting to the culture of the Dorobo tribe, but it wouldn't be any easier for them to adjust to our culture.

Lauren...The Dorobo tribe greatly surprised me. I did not think that the lions would run away from their kill. However, I feel sorry for the lions. I feel as though they deserve to feast on their kill because they took the time to capture the prey. I think that the Dorobo tribe would have a rather hard time adjusting to the American culture. They would not be able to steal and they would have to work for their own food and belongings. However, I also would not be able to survive in the wilderness. I would rather be able to drive to the store and buy my own dinner.

Americans would probably have a harder time adapting to their culture.I feel sorry that the animal was killed. I wouldn’t cheer for either one.

LaKendra... I think it is amazing how fearless they are about approaching those wild animals and taking their food. Then again, it is something they are use to because it is something they have probably been doing all their lives. I think that they would survive better in our culture more then we would survive in theirs. There is no way that I would be able to get that close to wild lions and see a dead animal like that.

Robbie says... I think thats kinda weird that people just go right up to the carcus and eat it with out the lion attacking them. I would be scared to do that. The only way I would be is if i had a gun.

Ashley says... Everyone has to survive. I feel bad for the animals getting killed but the animals have to kill something to eat. I don't think they should steal the freshly killed animal. It's gross and the animal who killed it deserves to have the animal. I wouldn't go out there. They are brave going out their to steal becuase those lions can tear anyone apart. I think they should go to our culture and have the man kill it and bring it for people to eat instead of stealing other animals prey.

Matt: People need to eat. When people need to eat, they look for food. Meat = food.

Madi... I think the Dorobo tribe was very brave. I do feel sorry for the animal that killed it because the Dorobo tribe steals all the food that they worked hard to kill. I think the Dorobo tribe would have a harder time to adjust to the things we do because they know nothing about the way we live. At least we have TV and everything that informs us a little bit on the way the Dorobo tribe lives.

The tribe should try killing their own food. It might be easier for them to hunt rather than chasing after a lion's food. I don't feel sorry for the animal killed because it's the circle of life. Americans would probably have a harder time adjusting to the Dorobo tribe because Americans are pretty much set in their ways.

Jonathan says... Nope no deal im not going anywhere near a lion to steal what it just killed and it possibly kill me and eat me for desert. You've gotta be willing to die to do something like that. But hey you do what you gotta do to survive and feed your family

No i don't find myself going for them. I think that video is unnecessary. I do feel sorry for the animal, i say that because they have a life just like we do.

Yes, this was the most exciting thing I've seen in my life!!! I don't feel bad for the animals. I think it would be harder for them to adjust to our culture because they would have a hard time doing things here and living life.

That was a lot of bull. They stole from the lions. Those douches should hunt for themselves. I cheered for the animals. We wouldn’t adjust to their culture because Americans are fat and lazy as it is; this means that we would hunt and take to much food killing the lions and eventually ourselves.

I think it takes alot of guts to go near a lion for food. I do not feel soory for the animal that was killed becaus its the circle of life it has to happen inorder for everything to stay in order. Us because we have everything given to us it would be har for us to go and fight for it.

I feel sorry for no one. Nature kills, takes, and gives to us and everything everyday. **** happens. As for the humans taking the lion's food, vultures do that all the time, why can't humans? The Dorobo tribe would never be able to get used our culture and vice versa.
